Does Your Faith Perservere?

I remember on many occasions as a Christian some of the difficult trials God has led me through.  I certainly wouldn't have chosen them myself or envisioned God may have had them planned for me as a way of strengthening my faith or deepening my walk with Him.  The fact is, we just don't think that way.

We constantly choose the the path of least resistance, and, if left to our own devices, we would pattern our lives that way.  In doing so, however, we are forgetting one very important thing.  Nothing in this world grows or prospers without some kind of adversity.  Everything from blood pressure to big oak trees require resistance if what we call "normalcy or growth" are to occur.  Even in the garden in the aftermath of sin's entrance into the human experience, man and woman were introduced to "labor" in each of their respective roles in the family experience.  God was simply saying, "From now on, nothing is going to be easy."

My question to you today is all about that fact of life, especially as Christians living in a hostile world.  I say hostile not because you simply have an unbelieving neighbor or relative who mocks your faith in Christ, but because "we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly place." (Ephesians 6:12).

Why should you expect, no matter where you live or how much money you make, that you are somehow exempt from this reality or can somehow limit its effects?  It simply cannot be done no matter who you are or what your resources might be.  We are in a war that requires us to depend on God's resources and not our own.  The sooner any believer learns this one indispensable truth, the better off he or she will be!

So how can you and I have a faith that perseveres?  Actually, it is not a complicated formula.  It just involves not giving up on God in the middle of the trial we may be encountering.  And that is the key, Not giving up on God!  Here is how Paul put in Galatians 6:9:

And "let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up."

Let's remember that this week as we experience the trial that God has prescribed for our growth!  We will reap the spiritual benefit and grow more mature in our walk if we don't give up.
