Where is the Balanced Reporting?

We have recently been watching the devastating news from Christchurch, New Zealand, where at least fifty Muslim worshippers were slaughtered as they congregated in their local mosque.  The response both public and private has been riveting, and the sense of outrage has been appropriate and aggressive from news agencies around the world.  I have been particularly focused on how quickly the media gathered the key facts of the case, interviewing the living victims of the massacre and appropriately labeling the gunman as a hate-consumed terrorist viciously taking the lives of innocent men, women, and children while they were in a house of worship.

Now, instead of fast-forwarding to another instance of blatant hatred, let me turn back the clock a few months and take you to Nigeria where, since January, "Fulani herdsmen" have maimed and murdered not fifty, not one hundred, not one thousand...........but six thousand Christians.  These herdsmen, so-identified, are actually radicalized Muslim extremists attempting to exterminate all non-Muslim residents in the Plateau state of Nigeria.  The victims (primarily women and children according to reports) have been maimed and butchered in mostly night raids.  By the way, these "Fulani herdsman" are not fighting over land disputes of ancestral lands or some political issue.  That is the narrative that some international media agencies have attempted to pass off to the unwatching world.  Non partisan Christian organizations have such as Open Doors USA and International Christian Concern have all stated that Christians are being deliberately targeted.

The question that begs to be asked is why isn't this "genocidal" act front-page news?  Where is Reuters, AP, CNN, MSNBC, ABC or anyone for that matter identifying these hate-filled terrorists like they have appropriately done in Christchurch, New Zealand?  Where is the balance of outrage and exposure of hate upon Christian communities that is at least nearly six-thousand times greater than what we witnessed at Christchurch?

The same could be said about the "silence" regarding anti-Semitism that has arisen all over Europe and now in the halls of our own American Congress. In America, our heros have fought and died for everyone's right to express their consciences even when we disagree with them.  This freedom is increasingly vanishing all over the world.

If good people don't speak the truth to this sort of "biased outrage," there will not be anyone left to speak, and that will be the end of freedom as we know it.
